Unique Features - This instrument is the result of one of the very few, full design collaboration I've shared in. Larry had really done his research and approached me in 1981 with a well developed general body design complete with articulate drawings as well as a wealth of his own playing experience. He knew quite well what he was after and my part was primarily to integrate those ideas with my experience as a builder and designer; to refine and extend the elements and then to construct the instrument. The design is largely based on the Alembic and Hyak structural models (laminated neck-thru with hollow core wing chambers) although the body is extended somewhat in the lower body bout with a slightly larger internal open air chamber to acoustically facilitate a fuller, more natural, extended low-end capability. This and the increased scale length (Fender 34") allows the bass to be benefited by, but less dependent on the active EQ circuit (TBT) to obtain a deep, balanced response.
